We’re in the middle of February, and as things are warming up, so are our schedules. The reality is that sometimes I need a bit (okay, maybe a lot) of help. I’m all about finding affordable (but investment) products that make each day a little easier and more fulfilling. So, in the whirlwind of mom life, here are a few gadgets and gizmos that have genuinely made my days brighter (or at least more manageable).

Read Without Interruptions

What is it? Kindle Paperwhite – Waterproof with 2x the Storage

Why it's great: Because sometimes, the only quiet time is in the bath. And with this, I don't have to worry about soggy pages. Plus, most of the time, I only have one hand available to read; this device makes it so I can read and function as a parent. I’ve been scheduling “quiet time” for Emme and me each afternoon when either she’s napping or playing away from screens, and during that timeframe, I read to decompress before the night-time routine begins.  It’s a win-win.

Meal Prep Made Easy

What is it? Instant Pot Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker

Why it's a lifesaver: It's for those nights when I forgot to plan dinner... so most nights. I’m able to cook frozen meat in under an hour.

One of my dinner-time Instant Pot favorites is lemon chicken and rice in the Instant Pot. I throw a couple of chicken breasts, the juice from a full lemon, capers, rice, broth, seasoning, and a bit of cream into the Instant Pot and set it for 20-30 minutes (longer if frozen) and cook it. Make sure the liquid is stirred in so that the bottom doesn’t develop a crust and burn. If the Instant Pot senses burning, it automatically turns off (for better or for worse—ha!).

Quick Clean-ups

What is it? Shark WandVac Handheld Vacuum

Why every mom needs one: I laughed when I received this at my baby shower. I didn’t understand, but now? Let's be honest with ourselves: kids make crumbs.

I have to tell you all, last week I just wanted to visit the restroom in peace for approximately 45 seconds. Emme is loving playing in her high chair lately, and since she was safely strapped in, I thought, “I easily have 45 seconds to have some alone time.” Wrong. I couldn’t help but laugh when our dog must have brought the baby the bag of crackers. Those two made a huge mess in an impressive forty-five seconds. Needless to say,  the handheld vacuum helps me keep my sanity amidst the mess. Truly, bless my hand vacuum and dog for doing the most.

All of this to say, life in general isn’t always easy. Living life as a mom is so much fun and absolutely worth it, but also, it doesn’t have to be done without help and products that will make things a little easier. You’ve got this.

I’d love to hear what products are your trusty sidekicks in the wild adventure of motherhood. Let's share the wisdom!
